    Red Ribbon Week:  October 25th - 29th

Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention awareness campaign. Today, millions of people celebrate.  Red Ribbon Week is designed to be an awareness campaign that gets information to parents and students about the dangers of drug use. Red Ribbon Week is designed to get parents talking to their children about the dangers of drugs. We celebrate at NPE by having all students signing a pledge to be drug free and to make healthy choices.  We have special activities planned throughout the week (see information below).

  • Attention 2nd Grade Families

    2nd Grade Testing info

During the month of October, all 2nd graders in South Carolina participate in two assessments: the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) and the Iowa Assessments. CogAT measures general thinking and problem-solving skills that students have learned through in-school and out-of-school experiences. It indicates how well the students can use these skills to solve verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal problems. Iowa Assessments measure student progress in reading and math. Information from CogAT and Iowa Assessments supplement teacher observations about what students are able to do. In addition, they are used as a screener for Gifted and Talented Identification in South Carolina.
