Weekly Updates from Mrs. McNair

Good evening MGES families!

I need your help. Each morning when I arrive, I am seeing more and more prizes left in the parking lot, on the field, and even on the sidewalks by some four-legged friends. Please remind neighborhood friends and families that we love sharing our space but everyone needs to keep our campus clean. No one wants to step into that ever!

And on to better news...our Fall fundraiser is well underway and will be open until September 30. Thank you for finding ways to support our school.

Thank you all for the ways you are involved at Meadow Glen Elementary School. I am excited to share with you our new and returning School Improvement Council members. Returning members are Brandon Barkley, Meghan Cegelis, Anthony Gentile, Abdullah Khan, Brent Petersen, Michelle Rapp, and Melanie Valdez. Our newly elected members are Valencia Bostic, Markie Burnette, Jennifer Carinci, Susan Jennings, Tyler Miles, Sri Lakshmi Ramya Sreedharan, and Shana Tyner. We will have our first SIC meeting on Tuesday, October 12.

If you are returning families, you will remember that we transitioned to Feedback-Driven Progress Reporting last year. If you are new to the district, you may not know what that even means. The grading guide attached to our emailed message is a great resource for all to better understand how we use the learning experiences your child has to inform us and you on their progress toward meeting grade level standards. Feedback-Driven Grading Guide for Families

Lexington One Back to School page.

Exploring the Glen and the MGES Website continue to be a great resource for information happening at Meadow Glen Elementary School!

Healthy updates:

If your student receives a positive test result for COVID-19 infection or is identified as a close or household contact of someone who tests positive for COVID-19, Lexington One now has a Google form to complete to notify your school. As always, you can give Nurse Flanagan or me a call or email.

If you are out due to illness or quarantine, we want your first priority to be getting well. After that, we will share a Week at a Glance and learning information so that your student can stay up to date. Teachers are working hard to make sure learning can continue through these unforeseen absences. When it comes to vacations or planned absences, it is very important to plan these during the many scheduled school holidays. If you are aware of an absence that cannot be avoided, please communicate with your child’s teacher well in advance. They will do their best to work with you regarding assignments.

  • The building opens at 7:00 am and instruction begins at 7:40 am.

  • Make sure your child is bringing their device each day charged.

  • Students may be dropped off in the front or back of the school. If your child would like to eat breakfast at school, please have them inside before 7:30.

  • The breakfast cart closes at 7:30 am. In the mornings, students may be dropped off in the back while an adult is on duty. Once that door has closed, morning drop-offs will need to happen at the front door.

  • Don’t forget your water bottles.

  • Personal communication devices (smartwatches, phones) should be powered off during the school day. These are a distraction in class to your child as well as others. If communication is needed, please work through our office, the nurse, or your child’s teacher as needed.

  • Fridays are Spirit Days at MGES and if you are looking for some gear, check out the PTO online store. The link is in the emailed version of this message.

  • You can also consider being a substitute teacher. If you are interested in substituting this year, check out

See you all soon as we work together to Empower each child to design the Future!
