Lauren Black

Mrs. Black is a double graduate of the University of South Carolina where she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a Masters of Library and Information Science.  She has experience in teaching, community outreach, and has worked in a public library for 6 years in circulation, reference, and youth services.  Mrs. Black grew up in Lexington One schools and has a passion for educating the community that she has been a part of her whole life. She currently serves as the vice chair for all of the South Carolina Book Awards Committees, and is the previous chair of the South Carolina Children’s Book Award Committee. Mrs. Black is married with 2 children
(Lee-4 and Ava-2).  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and watching movies. Mrs. Black is passionate about working with young people to help them to become lifelong learners and readers.  She is looking forward to continuing her work with students, faculty, staff, parents, and the community to help students become as successful as possible. For more information visit the Learning Commons website.
