Blended Learning at GMS
There are exciting new learning opportunities coming to GMS! In an effort to meet the needs of our 21st Century Learners and to provide an education that will ensure they are College and Career Ready, we will be implementing Blended Learning in our Math and ELA classrooms. Students will experience a variety of learning opportunities through small and large group direct instruction, collaborative peer learning activities and individualized digital learning programs. Instruction will be more individualized and student-driven. Daily formative assessment data will be used to meet each student’s changing needs! Click on the link below for a quick video about Blended Learning!
We are excited to introduce our students to two new digital content providers that are very respected in the education community. ELA students will be interacting with Achieve 3000, which is a program that provides reading/writing content and activities tailored to meet each individual student needs. With a massive data base of high-interest material that increases daily, Achieve 3000 meets students where they are and provides rich learning opportunities to ensure their continuous growth. See the links below:

Math classes will be utilizing ALEKS Math, which is an exciting web-based learning system that has rapidly been adopted by public schools and colleges throughout the US, due to its proven ability to improve student learning in math. Again, ALEKS meets students at their learning level and provides rich, individualize learning opportunities to improve their mathematical content knowledge. The fact that the ALEKS digital learning program does not involve the use of multiple choice questions makes this program unique. ALEKS continuously monitors student work and adjusts to meet the student’s needs. See the following links for more information.

Once again, we are very excited about Blended Learning at GMS. If you have questions concerning the implementation of Blended Learning at GMS, please call or email Dr. Ricard (bricard@lexington1.net) or Mrs. Geddings (tgeddings@lexington1.net) for more information.

Schoology Parent Login
As part of Lexington County School District One’s commitment to providing 21st century learning tools for our teachers and students, we have begun using Schoology© as our district learning management system in grades 6–12. In fact, Schoology© will replace Edmodo as our learning management system in grades 6–12. This transition will take place during the first semester of this academic year.
Schoology© is a dynamic platform that allows teachers and students to work digitally and communicate with each other on both computers and mobile devices. With Schoology©, students can submit homework assignments, participate in interactive discussions, receive announcements and feedback, take assessments and collaborate with their peers. Teachers will monitor student progress and activity to ensure a safe, secure and controlled environment. Parents will also have access to the system and be able to view teacher and student activity.
Parent access codes are available in the office. Please visit the following link for instructions to create your parent account and/or watch the tutorial video that is attached.
