Weekly Message From Mrs. Ricard

  • We had a great week at RBE and are looking forward to the upcoming week! Please see the information below about things going on at RBE this week:

    • On Monday, January 24, the second nine-weeks report cards will come home. Please make sure you check your child’s bag for his/hers.
    • On Tuesday, January 25, we will have our monthly Chick-Fil-A biscuit sale to benefit our Relay for Life campaign. Biscuits will be sold for $3 each to benefit Relay for Life.
    • If you are interested in participating in the Strengthening Families Program, please complete the form linked here. The Strengthening Families Program is a fourteen week program based on the best research available. It works closely with families to reduce problem behaviors and conflict and improve communication skills. It teaches children the skills necessary for success in school and life. The program focuses on families with children six to eleven years old, but also provides preschool childcare and activities for children twelve to sixteen. Families who complete the program see a significant increase in cooperative behaviors, resilience, and positive parenting skills that build better relationships with children. The form must be completed by January 31 and if you have completed a cycle before, unfortunately, you cannot complete it again.
    • We are so grateful that Mosaic Church provided our school with coats and other items.  If you would like for your child to receive a coat, as well as athletic shorts (boys) or legging pants (girls), please fill out the form with your child’s name, size, and teacher. This form will be sent home in paper copy with your child(ren). They are due by Friday, February 4.
    • Our Special Olympics Polar Plunge Challenge continues!  Currently, we have raised nearly $320. The 5th grade is in the lead. Each Friday, we will move our fundraising table outside in the morning carline so that we can really challenge our students to increase their donations! We have a LOT of students who want to see their administrators ride a camel!!!!
    • Immersion 5K registration will begin February 24th at 4:00 pm. Here is the link: https://sc50000473.schoolwires.net/Page/4612.  We will also have parent information sessions on:
    • 1/24 from 12-1
    • 1/25 from 6-7 pm
    • 1/26 from 8-9 am
    • This is the recurring Zoom link: https://lexington1-net.zoom.us/j/89611632099?pwd=Q2libDlGNlV2UFFEb0xhbFkvZGNndz09
    • Parents must enroll their children for Kindergarten at the school you are zoned for, even if they register for immersion at another school.  At the district level, your child's registration documents will be transferred to the school he/she will attend in immersion if enrolled.  This does not apply to younger siblings of already enrolled immersion students.
    • We are currently experiencing a surge in COVID cases. In “high spread,” we recommend mask wearing, will return to having lunch in our classrooms, and will not be allowed to have parents in for lunch, etc.
    • Please be reminded that if your child is a close contact or a household contact (someone tests positive in your home), or has received a positive diagnosis, please use the district COVID reporting form linked HERE. You may also access the link on the Lexington School District One website. After you report, someone from the district will contact you as soon as they are able to discuss quarantine/isolation and provide return to school details. It could take a day or two to get a call back as the volume of reporting has been high.
    • If you have concerns that your child may be sick, please keep them home and contact our health room for guidance. Please be aware that the new COVID strain presents with cold or allergy symptoms. The district test sites are open Monday through Friday for free student testing.
    • If your child has been vaccinated and you would like to provide that documentation for our records, please send a copy to Nurse Poole.
    • If you have questions regarding the new guidance or early return from quarantine, please contact the health room for more information at 803-821-4623.

We look forward to seeing you all back at RBE on Monday where we will continue to Lead. Learn. Love….and Pass It On!
