WEEKLY MESSAGE FROM MR. MOODY
As you know, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will begin attending school four days each week starting tomorrow (Monday, October 19). Having more students on campus means our morning drop-off and afternoon car rider dismissal process will be longer than usual as we adjust our procedures to accommodate more students and more cars. We are confident this will go just as smoothly as it did when we brought back our 4K-2nd grade students a couple of weeks ago. Thank you in advance for your patience, cooperation, and flexibility.
For morning drop-off, please pull forward as far as possible to the adult standing at the very end of the sidewalk (and that's usually me). Even if there are only a few cars dropping off, please pull forward as far as you can, even if you see your favorite teacher standing nearby. This allows us to accommodate as many cars as possible and that helps us speed up the process.
Our 2nd grade students will be taking a state-mandated test on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week, so please be sure they are well-rested and arrive to school in plenty of time to eat breakfast. 2nd graders who receive their virtual instruction through the Lexington One Online Learning Academy will take their test on three Fridays beginning on Friday, October 23rd and ending on Friday, November 6.
Our first School Improvement Council (SIC) meeting will be held on Monday, October 26 at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom. SIC meetings are open to the public and they are a great way to be more involved in the decision-making process at GES. We hope to see you there!
If you'd like to order a take-home breakfast and lunch meal, click the link in the email that comes with this phone message. Students will bring their take-home meals home on Thursday afternoon.
As always, we appreciate your continued support as we move toward a more regular school schedule. Remember - behind every mask is a Gilbert Elementary smile.
