Heather Current

Welcome to a great year as a Midway Mustang! My name is Heather Current, and I am excited to be back with my Midway family after taking a year off to stay home with my newborn son. This will be the start of my 13th year teaching. I am originally from central Illinois, where I taught for 9 years, before my husband’s job took us to Florida where I taught for 2 years. My husband’s job moved us yet again and that is how I ended up in Lexington, South Carolina. I taught 5th grade at Midway during the 2018-2019 school year. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in elementary education and my master’s degree in reading, both from Illinois State University. Our daughter, Evelyn, attends Midway and will be in 1st grade this year. Our son, Cooper, who turned 1 in August, will be in good hands at daycare. My husband, Mike, is the director of player development for the University of South Carolina baseball team, so of course we are huge Gamecock fans! You can find us at the ball field during baseball season. I look forward to working with you and your 4th grader this year.

I am so excited to begin another year in 4th grade at Midway! It's hard to believe that this will be my 16th year of teaching. I graduated from the University of South Carolina and love the Gamecocks. I have three boys, Jacob, Jordan, and Bruce, who are always on the go. As a family we enjoy reading, spending time at the beach or lake, and being with family and friends. I look forward to a fabulous fourth grade year with some amazing Mustang families!

I have been an educator for 17 years. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade, as well as spending 6 years as a literacy coach. I have been a Midway Mustang for the last 14 years. I have one daughter who will be a 2nd grader this year and we have 2 dogs and 2 rabbits. We enjoy spending time on the lake, riding bikes, and reading. I love teaching and learning. I know that even the most challenging of times can teach us powerful lessons about ourselves and the world. It's our job to watch, listen, and learn.

Hello Mustangs! I am so excited to start another year at Midway. I grew up in Alabama but have lived in South Carolina for 21 years. I live in Lexington, with my husband Scott and 2 daughters, who are in 11th grade at Lexington High School and 7th grade at Pleasant Hill. We spend a lot of time at ball fields for our children but when I have free time I enjoy cooking, reading, and spending time at the beach. I look forward to a great year!
