Hello! I am excited to be back as part of the Midway family! This will be my 9th year teaching and I love it. One of my favorite parts of it is seeing the growth students make from the beginning of the year to the end. I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from the University of South Carolina. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my son, traveling, and trying out new restaurants.

Caroline Heinrich, Teacher

Bonjour ! My name is Caroline Heinrich. I am so excited to start this second year of teaching at Midway Elementary. I grew up in France, and studied in two different universities. I graduated from the University of Metz before spending a year teaching in an immersion school in Minnesota. After that I moved to Lyon, France, where I got a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood. I absolutely love traveling, and enjoy reading and hiking. I am looking forward to meeting your wonderful little Mustangs!

Sophie Nollet, Assistant

Bonjour! , my name is Sophie Nollet (Cornu is my maiden name) and I am an assistant in 5K kindergarten, in French immersion.

I was born in Antibes, in the South of France, on March 05, 1980. I have lived in Lexington for 3 years with my French husband and our 2 children, Matteo, 12 years old (7th grade in French immersion at Meadow Glen) and Giulia, 7 years old (2st grade in French Immersion at Midway). I worked in middle school and elementary school. I am happy to share my third year in kindergarten French Immersion at Midway with you!

Susan Steele, Assistant

I am looking forward to my third year at Midway Elementary. I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina where I majored in Advertising/Public Relations. I grew up in West Columbia and attended Brookland-Cayce High School. I have lived in Lexington for the past 26 years with my husband Bill. We have three grown children, Kaley, Ali and William. All three of my children attended Midway Elementary. I also have an adorable Shih-Tzu puppy named Roo. Before becoming a Kindergarten assistant I subbed in Lexington District 1 for 4 years in Kindergarten through 12th grade. I was able to work along side many talented teachers. I also taught pre-school for 13 years at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church. My career before becoming a mother was working as a buyer for women’s clothing for Belk and JB White. I am excited to meet my next group of wonderful children and look forward to a fabulous year!

Ashley Morris, Teacher

Lexington One Online Learning Academy

My name is Ashley Morris and I was born and raised in Lexington, South Carolina. Growing up, I attended Lexington schools (including Midway). I also completed my student teaching at Midway in the fall of 2008 with Mrs. Thomas’s kindergarten class. I am a 2009 graduate from the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!) where I majored in Early Childhood Education. I have my Master’s degree from Columbia College in Divergent Learning and I am National Board Certified. This will be my 12th year as a teacher at Midway. I am an avid Gamecock fan and love to attend the games with my husband, Alex. We enjoy spending time with our daughter, Anna Kate, and our Goldendoodle named Jax. As a family, we love to spend time by the water- lake, pool, and beach! I am looking forward to another great year in kindergarten!

Suzanne Farrell, Assistant

Hello Mustangs! My name is Suzanne Farrell. I have been at Midway for 15 years. Mr. Farrell and I have been married for 33 years. We have a beautiful 23 year old daughter who is currently living and working in Columbia. We all love everything about the Great Outdoors. We have a lab (Bud) and 3 chickens. And I have the greatest job in the whole world!!!

My name is Laura Morrison. I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. I am also National Board Certified. I have taught kindergarten for twenty-four years. I grew up in Lexington, went through Lexington School District One schools, and still live in Lexington as well! I am married to Scott Morrison. We have two children: Emily is 20 and is a junior at USC. Hunter is 16 and is a junior at Lexington High School. We also have one spoiled rotten fur-baby named Lucy

Colleen Hawkins, Assistant

My name is Colleen Hawkins. This is my second year here at Midway. I graduated from California Polytechnic University, with a BA degree. I established and directed a Christian Preschool. I worked for the Bonita Unified School District as an aide in Special Ed. K-1, and in a Resource Specialist Program for over 25 years. I am happily married to Jeff Hawkins and have two grown sons. Brian is in the elevator trade. Kevin works at Michelin Tire and is married to Candace. Kevin and Candace gave me the most adorable grandson, Hunter. He is one of the main reasons we moved to SC! I have been a foster mom, team mom, PTA volunteer, and Sunday School teacher. I enjoy the outdoors, photography, and Disney!

Dale Thomas, Teacher

Hey Mustangs! I am excited to begin my 22nd year teaching kindergarten and my 16th year at Midway. I grew up in Columbia and graduated from Winthrop College with an Early Childhood Degree. I have a Master’s Degree in Divergent Learning from Columbia College and I am National Board Certified. My husband, Scott, is originally from Kentucky but Lexington has been our home for 24 years.

We have three boys. Derek graduated from The University of Kentucky and works for Duke Energy in Louisville, KY. Corey graduated from Samford University in May and is pursuing a career as a youth minister and Jordan works for Pizza Hut.

We are huge college football and basketball fans and enjoy cheering for the Kentucky Wildcats! I enjoy reading, traveling, spending time with my family and friends and teaching kindergarten.

Amy Toll, Assistant

This is Mrs. Toll's first year at Midway.  She moved here with her family from Wisconsin in 2014, where she taught first grade for 15 years.  Mrs. Toll has a husband and three sons who keep her busy.  Mason is 13 and in eighth grade at Beechwood Middle School where he plays football and lacrosse.  Nathan is 15 and is a sophomore at Lexington High School where he wrestles and plays baseball.  Ryan is 18 and will be attending Newberry College this fall to study business and play baseball.  When not in school, Mrs. Toll enjoys traveling with her family, spending time on the lake, and taking care of her three rescue dogs.

I am so excited to start another year as a Midway Mustang, teaching kindergarten! This will be my ninth year at Midway and my fourteenth year teaching. I am a 2007 graduate of the University of South Carolina where I majored in Early Childhood Education. I have my Master’s degree from Columbia College in Divergent Learning. I grew up in the small town of Bowman, South Carolina so I am a country girl at heart. Outside of school, I love reading, spending time with my family, and visiting my family back home. I am married to Randy and have two step-sons (Brayden and Ethan) and one daughter (Lila). Lila is in fourth grade this year at Midway. I hope to instill the love of reading and writing in your child while having FUN! I look forward to a great year with your children.

Gabby Adams, Assistant

I have a BA in Psychology from Brenau Women’s College in Gainesville, GA and have been an Instructional Assistant for 15 years. I am married to a wonderful man, Kyle, and have two daughters, Emily and Caroline, who both attended Midway. We live in a “house divided” as Emily graduated from Clemson University in 2012 and Caroline graduated from USC in 2015. Emily lives in Washington, DC and Caroline lives in Charlotte, NC. I enjoy traveling, boating on Lake Murray, and visiting my family in Charleston.
