Degrees and Certifications:
Phillip designed Outdoor Education at Meadow Glen Middle School in 2013. He has a Bachelor's from Clemson University, Master's from The Citadel, and Doctorate degree from University of South Carolina, as well as various certifications including: SCDNR fishing instructor, National Fishing in the Schools instructor, American Heart Association BLS instructor, National Archery in the Schools instructor, and has completed ACCT low ropes course training. In the summer of 2015, Phillip completed the North Carolina Outward Bound course designed for educators, in which he received instruction and experience in rock climbing, ropes course, and backcountry camping.
Some of his favorite outdoor activities include fishing, camping, wakeboarding, and kiteboarding. He is also an extreme sports enthusiast with over 500 skydives including wingsuit jumps, and 1 BASE jump off the New River Gorge Bridge in West Virginia. He also helps coach boys varsity soccer at River Bluff High School, attends Mt. Horeb UMC in Lexington, and enjoys spending time with his wife, Caroline, who is a dentist at Palmetto Dental Associates in Lexington, and his three sons, Levi, Micah, and Canaan.
