Degrees and Certifications:
Augusto hails from Blountville, Tennessee, but frequently performs, teaches, conducts, and adjudicates in states throughout the southeast. Mr. Gil earned a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting at USC where he studied with Drs. Larry Wyatt and Alicia W. Walker and his Bachelor of Music from Carson-Newman University where he graduated cum laude with a BM and certification in K-12 Music Education with double emphases in voice and piano. At Carson-Newman, Augusto was the recipient of the W.D. Hudgins Leadership award and the Algernon Sydney Sullivan award for leadership and service to humanity. Augie was also instrumental in facilitating the STEP-Up Student Leadership program initiative, and the development and leadership for the LGBT sensitivity and awareness program, Safespace.
Mr. Gil is currently the Choral Director at Meadow Glen Middle School in Lexington, South Carolina and serves as the Director of Music and Worship at Carolinas Cornerstone Church of Fort Mill. He is also very active with Delta Omicron International Music Fraternity, for which he serves as the International First Vice President. He is a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honors Society, the American Choral Directors Association, and the National Association for Music Educators. He enjoys working with students of all ages and encourages collaboration, innovation in music, and performance.
