Degrees and Certifications:
Jo Hanna began playing the violin in 5th grade, sparking her constant growing passion for music and most importantly, Orchestra. Mrs. Hanna holds a B.S. in Music Education with an emphasis on Instrumental Music from Presbyterian College. While at PC, she discovered her love for teaching and helping students reach their goals in music. She has just completed her 6th year of teaching, with the past 4 years being the Orchestra Director at Dreher High School in Columbia, SC. When asked what her primary instrument is, she will always respond with the Viola and Violin, but has loved playing the Cello and Bass as well (upright and electric). In addition to those instruments, Jo can be found playing the mandolin, ukulele, and even percussion along with singing in the community. You may even find her mentioning other instruments as she loves constantly challenging her knowledge and skills. With all of this background in music, her favorite thing out of it all is to teach and conduct her Orchestra students and help them find their own passion in music.
When Jo is not doing something musical, she loves to spend time with her Husband along with their dog (Sadie) and two rabbits (Keller and Luna). While growing up in her hometown of Seneca, SC, some of Jo’s favorite things to do included hiking to waterfalls, crafting, and cheering on the Clemson Tigers!
Mrs. Hanna is beyond excited to teach at Meadow Glen Middle and cannot wait to work with the students and continue building on the excellence of the orchestra program.
