  • Dear Lexington District One Parents and Guardians:

This week, Lexington County shifted to high COVID-19 community spread as defined by the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC). As you may recall, our district’s Safe Return to In-Person School and Continuity of Services Plan outlines some changes that take place in our schools during periods of high community spread.

We continue to monitor not only community spread, but also the number of cases in our schools.

The good news is the number of positive cases among students and staff remains very low. As of Friday, Dec. 3 at 2:00 p.m., we have around 43 student positive cases and 10 staff positive cases districtwide. Also, the COVID-19 vaccination is now available for all children 5 years of age and older.

Right now, district administration is working with schools to prepare for these procedural changes, which you can see in this graphic, if our community remains in high spread.

These changes, again listed here, would go into effect when we return from Winter Break on Monday, January 3, 2022, if Lexington County were to remain in high spread.

For the next two weeks, your student’s principal will communicate if any immediate adjustments will be made at your school based on specific school needs.
