Please note that beginning Wednesday, March 18th, our building will close to the public due to the COVID-19 coronavirus. If you need help with a question during our building closure, call 803-821-1401. This telephone number will be checked from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. — Monday through Friday. If, when you call, you receive a recording during those hours, we are currently on the line with someone else or unavailable.
You will see a recommended number of minutes by each learning experience below. That's helpful information for you, but your child may finish more quickly or may need some additional time. That's okay! We encourage you to use the learning experiences in a way that works for your child and your family. If you need help, contact your child's classroom teacher via email, Seesaw, or using whatever method you'd normally use.

WEEKLY MESSAGE FROM MR. MOODY
Lexington One has developed a package of learning experiences for students at each grade level. The learning experiences are designed to reinforce and extend learning that students have already done in the classroom. The learning experiences include reading, writing, phonics, math, science, social studies, and some Related Arts activities. The experiences are organized by day, starting on Thursday of this week.
By now, you should have already heard from your child's teacher about how you'd like to obtain the packet of learning experiences. You have three choices. First, you can choose to view and print the learning experiences from a website link that I will share with you via email on Thursday. Second, you can choose to stop by GPS on Thursday any time between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm OR from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. If you're unable to view and print the activities from the internet and you don't have a way to come by the school, the third option is to have the packet delivered. GPS is still working on a delivery plan, but home deliveries will also take place on Thursday. If you originally asked for a packet to be delivered, but you have a way to stop by the school or can send someone to pick up the packet for you, please let us know as soon as possible. GPS staff members will be the ones to deliver learning packets to homes needing home-delivery.
Packets of learning experiences for 4K, 5K, 1st grade, and 2nd grade will be available in the front and rear car rider lines at GPS on Thursday of this week. Just pull through either car rider line between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm OR between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. A GPS staff member will hand you the packets you need and you'll be good to go. We will ask you for your child's name so we can keep track of which students received packets. If you're planning to pick up packets for friends or neighbors, be prepared to give us their child's name as well.
You'll notice that each learning experience will also show about how many minutes it should take to complete. Your child may finish sooner or take a little longer to complete each activity, but we wanted you to know about how long each activity should take. We encourage you to establish a schedule for your child and set aside a time each school day to complete that day's recommended activities. If you have any questions or if an activity is confusing to you, just contact your child's teacher through email, Seesaw, or through whatever method of communication you'd normally use.
GPS is also a food service site during the school closure. This means we will be providing meals in the front car rider line from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The meals will be handed to you in the front car rider line. If you're coming on Thursday to pick up a learning packet, come through the front car rider line IF you want a meal AND a learning packet. If you just want a learning packet, come through our rear car rider line. No meals will be served in the rear car rider line.
I wish I could tell you to visit and volunteer as often as possible like I normally do in these calls, but for now we'll have to hunker down and listen to the advice of our local, state, and national leaders as well as healthcare officials as we figure out a path forward in this difficult time. If you know of someone with some immediate needs, please let us know.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
